Even the Mega Yachts of the Rich & Famous need Dehumidification. Thanks to Sunbelt Rentals, this United CoolAir MACH145 has a very important job at the Lauderdale Boat Works in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida according to Robert DiMauro of Sunbelt Climate Control Services. “This 204’ Mega Yacht came in about 3 months for a total retrofit. The entire ship gets wrapped in plastic to keep the water out for painting”, according to Robert. “This makes the entire ship very hot and creates a moisture problem inside of the vessel”.
“With computers controlling most of the ships systems from the Bridge, it’s imperative this area be kept moisture free”. The MACH145 keeps the Bridge and its computers moisture free during the retrofit. With over 150’ of 20” flex duct, the MACH145 blowers, with 1.5” of external static pressure, have no problem moving enough dehumidified air to the Bridge. ”The United CoolAir MACH145 is the only 12 ton unit available in the Sunbelt fleet to accomplish this task. The only other units we have are 10 ton package units, but the static pressure is not enough to get the air to and from the bridge effectively”, states Robert DiMauro. With the high static blowers, the MACH145 can be stationed on the pier and pump air anywhere on the ship. When the ships chiller plant is down for servicing next month, a second MACH145 will be needed for the Crew Quarters.
