There are times when a portable/temporary/mobile cooling or heating unit can be the perfect solution to almost any situation. Whether a permanent HVAC system must be shut down for a period of time or needed for a special event, emergency power loss situations or in an ongoing solution. The instances where portable commercial cooling can be used are infinite. Manufacturing spot cooling, plant shutdowns, emergencies and telecommunication rooms to name a few.
Portable units are usually, but not necessarily on wheels and can be placed in any commercial building or space and even outdoors powered by a generator. These units that range from 3–30 tons are sometimes trailer mounted so they can be moved quickly to a particular job site.
Most portable HVAC units are air-cooled but occasionally water or chilled water can be an option. It is not always portable cooling that is needed but instead heating or dehumidification is called for. In this case there are dedicated heating units that look similar to their counterparts as well as cooling/heating units.
Advancements are ongoing in the portable A/C industry. New products will undoubtedly be continually developed to meet the needs and requirements of todays cooling and heating requests.
