Project Name: Hyatt Regency
Location: Boston, MA
The Hyatt Regency in Boston, MA wanted to replace an outdated Trane SWUD unit in their hotel. A quick change out was required since the hotel is fully operational. They did not want to have the added expense of rigging or business loss due to down time. The contractor chose United CoolAir’s factory charged EZ-FIT for a quick and seamless changeout.
The existing unit was replaced with a United CoolAir EZ-Fit 35 Ton single module unit. Due to the close proximity to the ocean combined with the airside economizer the evaporator coil was coated using Electrofin to ensure longevity. Using ECM fans & digital scroll compressors United CoolAir reduced the size of the unit giving back valuable floor space. Since the EZ-Fit can be disassembled into sections and fit through elevators and doorways, the Hyatt found that United CoolAir products are the perfect fit for retrofit.
Project Name: Great Clips
Location: Berkley, MI
During a recent tenant fit-out, Great Clips in Berkley, MI needed HVAC units that fit inside the building. Due to the building architecture, there was nowhere on the roof or ground outside for equipment.
United CoolAir was able to provide 3 VertiCool Aurora 4/5 ton units that could be installed indoors. Utilizing louvers in the rear of the building for condenser air and a small footprint to save valuable floor space the units solved the clients need for air conditioning.
Project Name: Rutgers University
Location: Camden, New Jersey
Rutgers University was looking for a solution during a renovation of a dormitory. They needed A/C for the corridors, however the space above the ceiling was limited.
United CoolAir was able to reduce the overall height of our CoolSpot to just 17″ tall. These water-cooled units fit inside 2×4 ceiling grid produced for 277U operation. Solving a challenging issue saved thousands if dollars thru a conventional ducted system.
Project Name: Etileno XXI Petrochemical Complex
Etileno XXI Petrochemical Complex, a joint venture developed in by Braskem-Idesa in Mexico required cooling efforts that encompassed a variety of measures to protect the equipment in a caustic environment. Solutions were needed in storage, waste treatment and utility facilities; a combined-cycle power and steam co-generation plant.
Several C-Series units with Cu/Cu condenser coils, coated with Electrofin and coated cabinets were just a few of the options utilized to ensure the equipment would withstand the environment.
Project Name: Trenholm Church
Location: Columbia, SC
The Trenholm Road Methodist Church was tasked with replacing an outdated chilled water and dehumidification HVAC system that had been in place since the building’s construction. Located in the hot, humid climate of South Carolina, conditions within the church become even more intolerable during Sunday services or during church events when the number of people and events would increase.
The contractor chose a VRV system for better zoning control, because the church is divided into 7 unique zones. They decided to use United CoolAir Corporation’s OmegaAir dedicated outside air systems (DOAS). The VRV units do an excellent job of controlling the sensible temperature in each zone but have limited dehumidification capability. The OmegaAir DOAS on the other hand is designed specifically for OA delivery. Using an OmegaAir allowed them to separate the sensible and latent loads for best performance. A total of 7 DOAS units were specified, one for each zone. To tie it all together, the VRV and DOAS units were tied into a BAS for precise control and management. Overall, the cooling requirements for the entire project were 62 tons.
Project Name: Glatfelter paper
Location: Chillicothe, Ohio
When it comes to providing cooling, no industry is more susceptible to environmental factors such as temperature, water and humidity than paper mills. The Glatfelter Paper mill located in Ohio was faced with the dilemma of how to provide cooling where the harsh conditions of acidic water used in the paper making process would be detrimental to any HVAC equipment on the market.
United CoolAir was able to modify a water-cooled 10 Ton VertiCool Classic to meet the requirements of this industrial use. Special components such as cupro-nickel coaxial condenser coils; CPVC water piping; sea duty water regulating valves and clean out tees were all used to alter the unit for the plant environment and solve the cooling needs of the facility.
Project Name: Starbucks
Location: Ontario, Canada
Java giant Starbucks is yet another perfect fit for United CoolAir products. Recently, the franchise located in Ontario, was in need of a cooling and heating solution, but finding the right HVAC product to accomplish this in a limited space and in a timely manner is the type of thing that can keep one up at night.
Our sales representative was able to utilize the UCA Select software to select and quote a 3 Ton C13-Series with Air Source Heat Pump. The horizontal design and above-the-ceiling installation was exactly what Starbucks used to best fit their needs, and all within a 6-week turn around time over the holiday season.
Project Name: Fogo de Chão
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
When upscale Brazilian restaurant Fogo de Chão began a franchise in Baltimore, MD., they were faced with the problem of trying to open up on short notice. Additionally, they desired to have AC units that would provide cooling with a small footprint.
In this case the recipe was simple, United CoolAir Corp provided 10, 12 and 15 Ton C-Series Water Cooled units engineered to adapt to custom height requirements. Special coils were also employed as well as 2 Dedicated Outside Air Systems.
Project Name: Gibraltar
Location: Newark, New Jersey
Replacing existing HVAC units in a timely and cost effective way was essential to the Gibraltar building in Newark, NJ. The project scope was to replace a 90 Ton mammoth v3 having to fit through an elevator 47x84x96 and be operational without interruption to the occupants. Additionally, they wanted the project to be completed over the weekend.
An EZ-FIT with a brazed plate heat exchanger was utilized to keep the footprint small and keep the water pressure drop consistent with the existing equipment specified decades ago. Using direct drive plug fans, the units were selected with 3” of ESP an allowance to cover for an unknown duct layout. A knocked down, factory charged 90 ton EZ-FIT was shipped on a Friday afternoon. The EZ-FIT was completely installed, tied to the BMS and running by 8:00 AM that Monday without disturbing the occupants.
Project Name: Rocky Mount Medical Park
Location: Rocky Mount, North Carolina
For the Rocky Mount Medical Park, located in North Carolina, there was a need to have 50 Ton units installed into an interior mechanical room. The difficulty of the situation was the medical building is heavily used during the week, so the install had to be accomplished over the weekend down time, and be up and running for Monday morning business as usual.
Brady Trane made use of the United CoolAir 50 Ton EZ-Fit as this was the only way to complete the install in a cost effective and timely manner. During 2016, Brady utilized a total of five 50 Ton EZ-Fit units to solve both a time and space constraint challenge.
Project Name: Six Flags Great Adventure Theme Park
Location: Jackson, New Jersey
Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey was seeking to have cooling provided to enclosures on their Safari attraction. Making sure wildlife was protected, and that guests would not be able to see the units to ensure the realism of the experience, was paramount.
United CoolAir’s VertiCool Classic was the perfect fit to accomplish the theme park’s requirements. With cooling in place, the safety of the animals and esthetic concerns was solved with the all-indoor solution.
Project Name: Towson University student housing complexes
Location: Towson, Maryland
Towson University located in Towson Maryland was tasked with providing cooling to student housing complexes Barton and Douglass house. The problem was they needed to fit HVAC units inside the two structures and the college wanted to accomplish this task without demolition to the buildings.
As luck would have it, United CoolAir products were able to solve both of their requirements with 10 VertiCool Classics. Cabinets were 100% DOAS modified with 1” insulation and also utilized special evaporators and blowers.
Project Name: Toronto Transit Commission (TTC)
Location: Toronto, Canada
Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) in Canada was tasked with providing cooling to several elevator machine rooms, switchboard and emergency response rooms inside their subway system. Cooling these underground rooms can be difficult because of their location and need for a small footprint.
Beginning in 2012, United CoolAir Corp was able to resolve TTC’s needs by deploying dozens of C13 Series Air-Cooled Horizontal units along with 12 VertiCool Aurora units to the platform level. Additionally, These units were able to duct the condensing unit air to the outside eliminating the possibility of weather damage or vandalism.
Project Name: South Central Foundation Therapy Clinic

The units were split systems that required multiple evaporators to each condenser unit.
The requirement was having the unit operate at well below freezing temperatures in the Arctic climate.
The units are indoor/outdoor splits serving various spaces: mechanical rooms, server rooms, and conference rooms.
Product(s) Installed MagnaCool Air Cooled “C” Series units. The units are spread across the 3 story medical building to provide additional cooling above what the main packaged Rooftop Units supply.
